Time to start updating the blog…. I’ll try to do this at least once every week or two.

Update: Graduated and got a job. I’m working at a Marketing/Advertising Agency called Forest Creative Group in Wixom, MI. It’s been… an experience as I’m sure any first job is. It’s a small company, 2 other designers and my boss. All of which are 45 year old guys, im a little out of that loop. But I’m learning a lot. I am a “Production Artist” as it says on my business card. I get things ready for print, I dabble in some design here and there, I organize and manage all the job folders and archives, I’ve gotten to do a little web design here and there (with coding!) and right now I’m working on a database driven website with a web developer (AWESOME).  

Things I’ve learned thus far:

• Working on your boss’s time schedule
• Never getting a day off (I just got one and it’s been almost a year)
• Sizing ads (times 147) to send out to pubs for clients Media Plan
• Making PDFX:1A (times 147) up that wazoo
• FTP upload, FTP download
• EXCEL SPREADSHEETS (I’ve become an expert, seriously)
• Genuine Fractals
• Waking up at 6:30am Monday through Friday
• A diet coke everyday helps the headache go away :)
• Working under a Art Director and not always getting to do what YOU like
• Working with clients, NEVER easy
• Photoshoots
• Sending quotes to printers, matchprint approvals

Thats all I can think of now, though I know there is much more…
